Chemerong Waterfall: With a height measuring more than 1000 ft (304.80 m), Chemerong Waterfall is regarded as the tallest waterfall in the country and has all the majesty befitting its status. The waterfall is situated within Chemerong Forest Reserve, and you would have to trek through the jungle to get to the falls. It is compulsory that you take a guide along with you on the trek, and you can reach the waterfall within two hours of trekking from the trailhead. Note that the trail is closed during the monsoon (which extends from late October to early March).
Lake Kenyir: If you’re fond of going over Google Maps before a big trip and you zoom over Terengganu, it’s hard to miss this gigantic lake. In fact, Lake Kenyir is the largest artificial lake in Southeast Asia and plays host to a recovering ecosystem and intricate cave system. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to check out Bewah Cave, which has a walkway inside for ease of access. Note that the cave will be submerged when the reservoir’s water levels are high. The area is popular for fishing, camping, and bird watching.

Terengganu is situated on the eastern coast of Malaysia and as such there are a lot of popular beaches in the state. Long Beach is one of the famous ones situated on the smaller island of Perhentian Kecil, and the pristine sandy stretch is a great place to watch the sunrise. For beach getaways, it’s always best to avoid the monsoon, which runs from November to January in Terengganu. Malaysia experiences two monsoon periods from November or December until March and from May or June to September or early October.
