2. Alexander von Humboldt Botanical Garden

Named after famous botanist, Alexander von Humboldt, who spent most of his life researching in Columbia, Alexander von Humboldt Botanical Garden is one of the notable landmarks in Ibague, Columbia. 3. Centenario Park

Renowned as the lungs of the city, Centenario Park is made up of a variety of trees and lots of vegetation. People visiting the park can enjoy watching ducks paddling in the river stream, and if you’re into people-watching, you can watch athletes sweating it out at noon. It’s also a great place to witness sunsets. This park also acts as a host to the annual festival called the Colombian Folklore Festival.

4. Bolívar Square

A great destination for eating street food and watching people, Bolivar Square is unlike anything you’d see in South America and Columbia. This square features a play park, manicured gardens, and fountains, along with important buildings such as the government building called Urrutia Building, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, and a statue of Simon Bolivar. There are also several restaurants, cafes, and ice-cream shops that are dotted around the square.

6. Annual Folk Festival

Since 1974, this festival has drawn many visitors to Ibague. Visitors are in for a treat during the festival, with farmers from the region performing their best traditional Colombian music with their unique artistic expression. 7. San Jorge Botanical Garden

San Jorge Botanical Garden has over 500 species of plants stretching over a 7 kilometer (4.3 mi) nature trail, and you can choose the short level walk or a longer and more challenging one. Coca plants are found along the way if you can recognize them.

9. Parque Museo Martinique

Parque Museo Martinique is the ecotourism landmark, which was the first project and ecotourism park that was developed in the city of Ibague. It was built with swwimming pools, games like yew, billiards, soccer fileds, restaurants and other services. This site also offers visitors the best place for camping, wildlife viewing and nature immersion. You can also see the beautiful panoramic view of Ibague from the highest point of this site.

This place is easily accessible from Ibague; you can drive through the variant that leads to the municipality of Rovira, or from one that leads to Amenia. From the city centre it’s about 10 minutes by any mode of transport, you can even walk across the Uribe neighborhood and you are there.

10. Catedral Primada de Ibague

Located in Plaza de Bolivar, The Primate Cathedral of Ibague was once a simple chapel where the Spanish conquistadors attended the first mass (1551). It was then destroyed by lightning and earthquakes, but being restored it retained the magnificent architectural structure. This is a must-see historical site in Ibague, you do not need to be Catholic to be able to admire its artistic beauty.
