Belleville Area Museum was established in 1989 and it contains small-scale replicas of historical buildings that once stood in the city and the neighboring townships of Sumpter and Van Buren. Belleville Area Museum also houses collections of official documents, artifacts and photographs of the original settlers and these are open for public viewing.
