Farming has been taking place at Holly Hill Farm since the 17th century. It is a certified organic farm set on 140 acres (56 ha) of conservational land. 9. Soak in the views at Aaron River Reservoir

Aaron River Reservoir sits on a 36-acre (14.5-hectare) piece of land, and it is classified as a Class A water supply source, mainly used as a backup reservoir for Cohasset. The reservoir is mostly suited for relaxation and soaking in the views and though kayaking is allowed, it is always a challenge to get the kayaks or boats up the reservoir. Since wheels are not allowed in the park, it means that you will have to carry the kayaks up to the boat ramps and this is never an easy task. The same challenge is also faced by those who wish to go boating on the reservoir.

10. Enjoy nature walks at Wheelwright Park

Wheelwright Park has trails nearly 0.7 miles (1.1km) long that traverse over 200 acres (81 ha) of land. The trails were initially constructed by gravel but they have since been covered by dead leaves and pine needles. While you make your way along the trails, you will encounter natural rock formations right in the middle of the trail and on the sideways. There are also several picnic sites that feature fireplaces and which makes the place highly suitable for camping. Another feature within the park worth mentioning is Barnes Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to endangered species of plants and trees, small wildlife, insects, and birds.

Black Rock is another beach destination worth checking out when in Cohasset. It is a rocky shoreline that stretches from South of Boston Harbor through South Hull up to North Cohasset. Due to the rocky nature of the shores, the beach may not be suitable for activities such as swimming, but you will love the sight and the sound of the waves as they gently crash on the stones. Then there is also the remains of the Black Rock House – a historic structure that was once a summer resort constructed overlooking the beach. The resort was constructed in the 1800s and was operational until the 1960s when it was demolished. If you happen to be around the area during sunsets and moonrise, you will be treated to the most spectacular views of the beach and the town beyond.

The settlement in Cohasset began around 1747 when the First Parish Meetinghouse was anchored. The initial residents of the town were merchants, fishermen, and shipbuilders since these were the thriving economic activities at that time. These and many other facts that shaped the development of the town can be found at the Cohasset Historic District. The district surrounds the Town Common in Central Cohasset and it features the Second Congregational Church, Town Hall, and St. Stephen’s Church. You will also see a variety of houses built in both the Federal and Georgian styles which display the architectural conservatism that has been well-maintained throughout the town since the early days.

Learn about the farming practices of the region and sample some of their fresh produce at the farmers’ market held every Thursday.
