The city of Drummondville lies to the east of Montreal and has a population of just over 65,000 people. In the early 19th century, British Lieutenant-Colonel Frederick Heriot established this area in order to provide housing for British soldiers. The location of this settlement was also strategic as the St-Francois River, which runs through the city also provided a defensive barrier against possible attacks from America coming from the south. In the modern era, Drummondville is a city that takes pride in its culture and traditions. Translated in English as “Trent House”, the Domaine Trent is a cool place to spend an afternoon. The home itself was built in the 1800s and features designs very emblematic of the era like its stone exterior and a sloped roof. The property is located by the water and was designated a historic monument in 1964. Today, there are activities you can do here like an escape room all based on things and stories from the 1800s. Visiting the home is free and if you’re not into escape game, the landmark also functions as a free museum.

Located on land which was formerly owned by Drummondville founder, Frederick Heriot in 1917, it was converted to a golf course. 7. Hike through the Boisé-de-la-Marconi

It was at this spot that the first transatlantic radiotelegraph antenna was installed in Canada and the people of Drummondville named the park after the inventor, Guglielmo Marconi. The park is a local hiking spot, with several different paths and loops that visitors can check out, all of which are moderately easy. Even a first-timer can hike through the Boisé-de-la-Marconi. The forest is known for its wildlife so if you’re into birdwatching, make sure to bring your binoculars.

Started in 1977 by a local historian, the Quebec Village of Yesteryear is a full-blown village that has exhibits, structures, and actors presenting life in a small Quebec village.
