Officially called Shoshone County Mining and Smelting Museum at the Staff House, this charming museum showcases the long and proud history of the Silver Valley in the mining and smelting industries. In fact, the museum itself is housed in what was formerly the residence of Stanley Easton, who served as General Manager for the Bunker Hill & Sullivan Mining & Concentrating Company in the early 1900s. At the Staff House museum, you can see all sorts of memorabilia, from preserved photographs to restored mining gear and equipment. Constructed in the early 1880s, it was among the first hard rock mines in the Silver Valley area. Though the mine was later closed, it reopened in the 1990s as a point of interest and has since drawn thousands of visitors every year.

At this gold mine, you can take a guided tour - no climbing required, as the mine is now fitted with concrete walkways - and learn more about the different methods that miners used in the past to extract precious materials.
