Named after the 19th President of Colombia, Parque General Gustavo Rojas Pinilla is widely patronized by both locals and tourists. There are vendors and pop-up stores selling traditional Colombian foods and desserts such as Cholados-shaved ice drizzled with condensed milk with toppings of your choice. Vendors at the park will also hawk Colombian souvenirs and crafts around. Prices may be slightly steep but some haggling will do the trick. At Parque General Gustavo Rojas Pinilla, there is a lot of music and dancing around so do join them for some fun when you are there. If time is on your side, go down during Christmas as the trees and lighting there are gorgeous. Zoologico Cafam Melgar is a place to which you want to dedicate the whole day. Arriving at the zoo, you will be greeted by a huge variety of animals, in particular, birds and monkeys. They have such a huge species there, you are bound to be impressed. During your trip, you can choose to have a tour guide walk alongside you, to explain to you how each animal was rescued from the wild. Head to the Butterfly Park within the zoo after you are done observing the various animals. You will be able to see and touch the butterflies in their natural habitat. Melgar is famous for its pools and waterparks and this has been incorporated into the zoo as well.
