Mestre is the centre of mainland Venice in Veneto. This area of Venice is connected to the historical centre by rail and road over the Venetian lagoon. Mestre features as incredible lagoons as San Marco’s golden domes. Every palace reflects mirage-like double images through the canals, which lend the city its magical quality. Though Mestre comes alive after dark, it does not party until the wee hours. By midnight, the city is shut tight; therefore, you can enjoy some of the best activities only until late evening. Experience the signature waterway, wander around the cathedrals and indulge in Venetian cuisine with ancient spice routes. Here’s a list of the 8 best things to do in Mestre, Italy at night!

1. Evening gondola ride

A gondola ride is an extremely remarkable approach to exploring Venice and its marvellous architecture. The vaporetti and the traghetti allow you to travel from ancient to modern Italy, just an indication of what it was earlier. Take an exceptional gondola ride to encounter the mysterious weather in Venice at nightfall. On account of a private voyage through Venice on a night gondola ride, you can appreciate beautiful waterways and observe lights and water reflections. The night gondola ride leaves from the Calle Vallaresso gondola stop.

4. Teatrino della Murata

Posted by Officina del Teatro della Murata on Monday, 3 July 2017

Teatrino della Murata is a fairly simple and small theatre but the atmosphere around is very good. This uninitiated historical and fascinating teatrino features workshop activities at Antica Battuti School. It’s a nice theatre, surrounded by tall apartment blocks in the centre of the city. This theatre was strongly supported by a group of young people several years ago. The space is limited but very welcoming, where the viewer is part of the show. It offers various shows and is a great cultural opportunities for visitors to and residents of Mestre.

5. Stroll and see the Torre dell'Orologio at night

Torre dell'Orologio allows entry for 12 EUR / 14 USD in the daytime; however, it is equally fascinating to explore at night. The history and inner workings of the clock are very interesting. Photography of the clock’s inner workings and the religious statuary is allowed, and the tour ends at the very top of the tower, giving a great view of Piazza San Marcos, Doge’s Palace, and the Campanile. The tower can be viewed from Piazza San Marcos without a tour, and the excellent sun and stars clock face on the tower can be viewed from Merceria Orologio street.

6. Exhibitions at Centro Culturale Candiani

If you are in Mestre, if you live near Mestre, or if you’re passing through, inquire. This is a lively place of culture and exhibitions, some very different, that can meet the taste and desires of many. This is a cultural beating heart in a young city that is increasingly seeking its own identity. It was started as a municipal cultural structure, which offered rare cinematic screenings and music events with a refined ambience, today privatisation has turned it into a multiplex of many that both the centre and the periphery were already offering, with an exhibition space that occasionally is also home to something interesting. The surroundings are not the most be attended, almost permanently populated by unsavoury types, so keep this in mind if you are in the area.

7. Galliano Night Club

Galliano is a great place for a spritz. On weekends, the staff is quite limited and there are a lot of people. The place is not very close to the centre but the facility provides free parking. The spritz is very good and beautiful for the low price. This historic place in Mestre is famous for the spritz that the owner creates, which is served without water and with two types of white wine.
