This huge State Park covers a total of 5,286 acres (2139 hectares) and includes numerous biking trails, nature parks, and a 1,450-acre (586-hectare) lake. As you might expect, both throughout the year, the lake and the surrounding area offer a fantastic landscape to explore. It is worth noting that, if conditions are deemed unsafe, the biking trails and other areas might be closed to the public. We recommend heading there in summer to take full advantage of the beautiful lake. This peaceful location can be best enjoyed by renting a boat and heading to the middle of the lake. Be in awe of your breathtaking natural surroundings; just don’t fall in!

2. Go hiking along the trail in Top Rock Park


If you stay on the path and follow the arrows, then you’ll discover a part-boulder scrambling and part-hiking path that is a medium level challenge. Some areas of the trail can be steep, so we definitely recommend only going as far as you feel comfortable. The trail is 1.7 miles (2.7km) long and is best completed from March through to October. It might seem like hard work, but when you get to the top, the views are worth it.

This excellent flea and farmers market takes place every weekend and has over 100 stalls participating. There is parking for over 2,500 cars so you can easily transport home all of your new belongings. The market size varies depending on the season, so in Winter you can discover the 120 indoor stalls, and in the warmer Summer months it is extended to include 400 outdoor vendors. 10. Visit the historic Liberty Hall

Of course, a trip to Pennsylvania wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Liberty Hall, or the Independence Hall as it is also known. This historic building is where the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were both signed. Guests can enjoy the hall, but the entrance is strictly on a ticketed basis. Tickets are available every day and there are tours that leave every half an hour for guests to learn about the history of the site. You can book tickets in advance online (for a small handling fee) or wait in line at the back entrance at 8:30 am for daily distribution.

This annual event was started in 2016 and has become a huge hit among both the locals and tourists alike. The carnival lasts for a few days, so there is plenty to see and do to keep you occupied, especially if you are traveling as a family. Be sure to see the fantastic night time fireworks displays. All of the proceeds from the event go to the local fire department, so alongside having great fun, you’ll be supporting a fantastic cause.

You can expect much more than just open parkland because there are camping zones, nature hikes, ball-game areas, spots for fishing and even boating on the lake. In total, the park is 549 acres (222 hectares) and the lake is 50 acres (20 hectares). During the summer months, for an extra special treat, you can also enjoy horseback riding in the area. On a summer day, you can expect to see plenty of other sun-seekers reveling in this beautiful open space. This fantastic, par 71 golf course was designed by David Gordon and it is enjoyable for all levels. There are 18 holes to complete. If you’re a huge fan of golfing or just a beginner, we are sure that you’ll have a fun time playing on this course. It has beautiful views surrounding the holes. There are also lots of events and tournaments happening throughout the year, which are open to join for a fee. The rates change depending on the season but we think it’s a great way to spend an afternoon. Be sure to check out the driving range before you start your game.
