The important pilgrimage site is more popularly known as the “Temple of the Buddha’s Footprint.”, a name attributed to a story behind the temple. It is believed that during a journey of Buddha to a mountain, he had left footprints in different areas, on of which is the location of the Wat Phra Phutthabat. King Songtham of Ayutthaya was responsible for building the temple after a hunter found what he believed to be a footprint of Buddha. Some believe that worshipping the footprint gives good fortune. The temple is a revered place of worship and is considered to be an important pilgrimage site.

Phra Bowon Ratchawang Si Tha is a palace constructed by King Pinklao in Saraburi during a wartime in Thailand. It was strategically located near a place in Saraburi called Khao Khok because it seemed like it was fit to be a natural fortress. The residence was constructed purely with wood and after the death of King Pinklao, the residence was demolished to make way for construction of other palaces for his children. At present, the vast compound of the Phra Bowon Ratchawang Si Tha palace is inhabited by local people.
