Whether you love soccer or not, a visit to Estadio Municipal Parque do Sabia is a must. This 53,350-seater facility is named after the late Joao Havelange, a Brazilian and former president of FIFA. Havelange also served as a distinguished IOC (International Olympic Committee) member. The stadium hosts soccer events, even though it has the capacity for athletic activities. Local football fans did not like the new name and opted to stick with Parque do Sabia. The pitch measures 130m by 90m (427ft by 295ft) with the playing surface covered by grass. At present, only a few football matches are played here. However, the design and size of the facility make it an iconic structure worthy of touring.

Uberlandia Municipal Museum is a majestic building on Clarimundo Carneiro Square. Before its conversion to museum status, the building served as the City Hall. The single-story structure is a custodian of numerous exhibits that describe the city’s history. Its architectural style conforms to the native Portuguese culture. Sadly, despite its beauty, it lacks the quality of displays found in similar sites across Brazil. Other areas of interest in the vicinity make up for the lost glory. For instance, you can visit the nearby Rondon Pochacheo Theater during a performance or sample the variety of fresh produce on sale at the nearby Municipal Market of Uberlandia.
