If you’re looking for unique places to see in Yelagiri, consider visiting this attraction. Sitting within a mulberry plantation, the Government Silk Farm is an excellent spot for hitching a guided sericulture tour, learning important aspects about silk cultivation. The farm has a rearing room where silkworms are bred and left to feed on mulberry leaves. The tour allows visitors to have a close look at every stage of the sericulture process. While you can skip the walk through the plantations, we recommend that you don’t – it is quite an experience. Yelagiri’s highest point, the Swamimalai Hills offers some of the most scintillating views as well as great trekking opportunities. The trek is slightly challenging at certain points and badly drawn direction arrows along the route don’t make it easy so come prepared. You might also need to negotiate a few muddy areas here and there. However, once atop, the beautiful views of mountains carpeted with thick greenery and small lakes sprouting from amidst them will more than make up for all the pains. It is recommended that you do not hitch this trek during the monsoon seasons as the lack of cemented paths along the route can make the trek dangerous.
