The name of the city stems from the Hungarian word kecske, meaning “goat”. The city Kecskemet, Hungary is a city in the central part of Hungary and it is the 8th largest city in the country. It lies halfway between the capital Budapest and the country’s third-largest city, Szeged and almost equal distance from the two big rivers of the country, the Danube and the Tisa. The characteristic weather in the Kecskemét region of Kiskunság is continental warm, dry, sometimes extreme. The Varga Tanya Horse Show is a traditional Hungarian horse show where the beautiful horses perform various tricks at the commands of their masters. The horse show is a spectacular view with a high degree of horsemanship where the rider stands on the back of two horses, while reining another 8 in front of him. One can see ponies, Hungarian horses, oxen and even a guy riding horses lying on their back.

2. Kecskemet Town Hall

The Kecskemet Town Hall is the house of the main administration of the city of Kecskemet, Hungary which was built in 1893. The building was designed by Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos and the decoration of the building, which consists of Zsolnay tile patterns, is inspired by old Magyar and Turkic folk art. The town hall itself is more of a mixture between renaissance and baroque styles, for which it has been criticized by National Romanticists like Károly Kós.

3. Kossuth Square

The Kossuth Square is located in the Lipótváros neighbourhood of Budapest, Hungary, on the bank of the Danube. A memorial to the victims of the 25 October 1956 massacre at Kossuth Tér was created in the southern ventilation tunnel as part of the 2012-2014 reconstruction of the square. Its most notable landmark is the Hungarian Parliament Building.

4. Kiskunsagi Nemzeti Park

Kiskunsagi National Park is a national park located in Danube–Tisza Interfluve mainly in Bács-Kiskun County, Hungary. It was created in 1975 and declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. The park stretches across the Little Cumania region of the Great Hungarian Plain. It is not a single territory but comprises seven disjointed units, scattered throughout the area and hosts the old pastoral life and cattle breeding customs.

6. Cifrapalota

The Cifrapalota is an Art Nouveau building in Kecskemet, a former apartment building, currently serving as a gallery and museum. The main features of the building are the decoration of the facade, falsík colored majolica, with the folk motifs, dominated by the high-rise roofing of the two-story façade, and the ornate roof. Cifrapalota has been in the Kecskemet Gallery since 1983 with three important collections kept by the museum.

The Museum of Hungarian Naive Artists opened in 1976 in Kecskemet. The museum collects works of classical and contemporary Hungarian naive painters and sculptors, with exhibitions aiming at the popularization and promotion of naive artists. It is the city’s most interesting museum and one of the few of its kind in Europe - the Museum of Hungarian Naive Artists contains works with lots of folksy themes.

10. Ornamental Palace

The masterful art nouveau Ornamental Palace, which dates from 1902, has multicolored majolica tiles decorating its ‘waving’ walls. The palace contains the Cifrapalota Art Gallery, with a large and important collection of 19th and 20th-century Hungarian art. You should visit mainly to view the aptly named Decorative Hall and its amazing stucco peacock, bizarre Secessionist windows and more colorful tiles.
