Mohave Valley is a small town on the border of Arizona and California, but although a small town, it has some nice places to visit. The best things to do include the Spirit Mountain Casino and Mesquite Grill and El Rio Golf. After a day hitting the slots or a couple rounds of golf, you can head to one these restaurants: Valdez Mexican Grill, Hunter Grill, or Porky’s BBQ & 66 Bar.

We bet this guest (who chose to remain anonymous) was Fair to Middlin’ (cowboy slang for being in a good mood) after playing the Gamblin' Jack #SlotMachine and hitting a #Jackpot of $10,275. Yeehaw!

Love the thought of Las Vegas but not all the people and traffic? Then this place is perfect for you! Located on the Fort Mojave reservation, this casino has Nevada-style gaming facilities without all the, “Where do I park? There are so many people!” There is also a snack bar to help you wind down and curb that hunger for a little bit longer, a mini-golf course that’s great for all ages, a driving range for all who want to practice their swing and a gift shop so you can bring home a memory and a memento.

“We have been here twice now and not disappointed either time. Tried the grill this time around and it was very good, simple menu and tasty food. Lovely service the staff helpful and friendly. The soda drinks are always free and the bar prices are very reasonable. Small and simple and we liked it like that!” - Deniece9 Riverside

Valdez Mexican Grill has everything from quesadillas to enchiladas, bean and cheese burritos and tacos and it provides the best Mexican food in the area. Although this restaurant opened only a year ago, owners Luis and Yolanda Valdez began their culinary career in Lodi, California, 30 years ago and have been in business ever since.

“Good atmosphere, great margaritas and diverse menu. Fajitas are very good and the service quick. If they were open on Sunday with Mexican breakfast and a couple TVs, this would be the hangout spot.” -Tony T. Huntington Beach, CA

“We are making our way back to Oklahoma from California and found this gem. The food was hot and fresh. My daughter had the rib special, husband had seafood platter and my son and I had the steak sandwich. All were delicious but my favorite was the appetizer, fried zucchini! So yummy! The other fantastic thing about this stop was definitely our waiter. I think his name was Jordan. Friendly, attentive and just a super pleasant person who seems to enjoy his job and visiting with his customers. He is the type of person who will excel in the service industry and likely will have customers returning to Hunters!” Visited August 2016 -Nikki427

6. Fort Mojave Indian Reservation

Once inhabited by the Mojave Indians or the Pipa Aha Macav (also known as “The People By The River”), the Mojaves were the largest population of people in the Southwest which used the Indian reservation along the Colorado River. However, there was a significant leap of numbers when the non-Indian people flocked to the region originally occupied by the Pipa Aha Macav. In 1859, a United States military outpost was established to allow safe passage for American immigrants traveling from east to west. It was first named Camp Colorado before it was renamed Fort Mojave. The military closed in 1891, and a boarding school soon took after but closed again in 1930. Now, the ruins of Fort Mojave still remain; a reminder of the troubled past relationship the Pipa Aha Macav and the American civilization faced.
