Savannah, the oldest city in the USA’s state of Georgia, is home to an enormous amount of historical attractions. As one of the most strategic port cities in the American Revolution, it’s inevitable that the past left its mark on this place. On its impressive list of attractions is the birthplace of the founder of the Girl Scouts (Juliette Gordon Low), the First African Baptist Church, and the oldest standing antebellum rail facility in the USA, the Georgia Railway roundhouse complex. To top all of that off, the downtown district is one of the United States largest National Historic Landmark Districts.

Naturally, these sites attract thousands of visitors a year, eager to experience the richness of Savannah themselves. But, of course, with such an array of attractions, you need somewhere to stay that matches the mood while providing a great base for you to explore the city from. Here are the best HomeAway and Vrbo vacation rentals with that cool vintage vibe, in convenient locations, and from across the price range.

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. The image galleries get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on October 23, 2024.

2. Charming townhouse with courtyard views (from USD 375)

Nestled in a charming, unassuming townhouse shrouded with creepers and covered with tall windows, you’ll find a HomeAway with a great mix of vintage decor and elements and modern off-balance styling. The living room features a quirky bicycle on a wall in an off-balance and nearly precarious position. This quirky placement lends this HomeAway a very fun and creative image. The third bedroom has a full bed and a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The house also has two other bedrooms; the master bedroom comes with a fireplace while the second bedroom comes with a book shelf. The courtyard is a charming private space that, surrounded by stairs and wooden pillars, has a very rustic secret-garden feel to it. Plan out your trips here, which you’ll have to do quite a bit of, since this house is near to so many of Savannah’s most famous attractions, including all 22 of the city’s downtown squares.

3. Elegant luxury home with courtyard views (from USD 750)

This romantic selection looks as though it jumped right out of a novel where the main character meets a merchant’s handsome son or pretty daughter while on holiday in Savannah. The design, decoration, and furniture sure set the mood for love. This luxurious house, dating as far back as 1790, sleeps 10 and is mostly in its original form. This living room will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a different era. This period-accurate restoration of a formal dining area will delight any history buff, Gothic novel enthusiast, or writer looking for inspiration. Can you imagine the kind of stories you’ll be inspired to come up with here? Anything from two lovers flirting across the bouquet to hands joined around the circle in a spine-chilling seance. The second bedroom, with twin canopy beds, has a balcony and a private bathroom. There are 3 other bedrooms, all with their own private bathrooms. The master bedroom’s bathroom has a luxurious jetted tub and a hand-painted mural. With so many amenities and places to sleep, this house is perfect for a family getaway or a break with a group of friends. If 10 sleepers are not enough combine it with the Washington Square Carriage House (another listing from the same owner) to sleep 14 people.

4. Stunning mansion with fountain (from USD 1600)

This HomeAway has been affectionately dubbed the “Wedding Cake Mansion” due to the ornate white decorations around its windows, resembling the swirls of cream and ribbon on a wedding cake. It’s the jewel of Monterey Square, an area made famous by the bestselling account, ‘Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil’, but what really takes the cake is the opulent nature of its interior decor. Some say it’s the most photographed house in the city, and this dining room, complete in all its chandelier-lit splendour, should be reason enough why. The living room has another beautiful chandelier, exquisite gilded couches, and beautiful classic paintings. And it’s all with a grand helping of antiques that you definitely don’t want to drop. There are so many details to the decor of this luxurious bedroom, and such care has been taken to make it accurate to the time period, that you could spend an entire day just looking at everything. We imagine this might even be good place for film crews who are looking for a location for a short period drama. This bath area just takes your breath away, and the closest thing you can compare it to is a scene right out of The Great Gatsby. But considering you can bring your whole family to this 20-sleeper house, no tragedy will ensue! With a rating of 4.9 out of 5, this place will attend to all of your needs and take you on that once-in-a-lifetime stay of luxury.

5. Vintage apartment best for families (from USD 361)

Upon entering, the living area is already dripping with vintage elegance, fully decked out in swirling prints and red wooden accents, all full of Southern charm. Welcome to this 1883 home that is located in the heart of Savannah’s historic district. The dining table matches the rest of the apartment; red, wooden, and classic. It’s spacious and can fit the whole family, just like the rest of the house. The property is also great for everybody in a big group, since it’s wheelchair accessible, suitable for children, and allows events. Check out the elegant sheets, curtains, and fireplace in the master bedroom. If you’re looking for intricate and vintage, the details in this apartment will definitely delight you. Savannah, to be savoured slowly

Savannah’s charm lies in the details and the stories surrounding its historical sites. Take the First Bryan Baptist Church, for example, which is actually the oldest parcel of real estate owned continuously by black people in the whole of the United States. With these HomeAway vacation rentals, most just walking distance from the best sights around the city, you will be sure to spend a few days soaking up the atmosphere and knowledge that Savannah has to offer.
