1. Preliminary Research and Data Gathering

We gathered a list of 5-star hotels in the US from the 2023 AAA Five Diamond and Four Diamond Hotels Awards list, the 2023 Forbes 5-star and Recommended Hotels list, and the 2023 list of U.S News and Awards and TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice 2023 Award.

2. Statistical Analysis

Statistical Analysis on these four awards lists resulted in the Top 5 5-Star Hotels in the USA. As the next step, 100 reviews of these 5 hotels were extracted from the open-source data-scraping tool Outscraper. The reviews contained TripAdvisor and Google reviews by guests who stayed here between January and June of 2023. Based on the exploration, a median value was calculated for each. This is termed as “Trip101’s Curated- Customer Review Score”.

3. Qualitative Analysis

Qualitative analysis using ChatGPT was done on these 100 reviews for each hotel. This resulted in the top 3 reviews by the customers. These were analyzed based upon the following indicators: Ambience, Cleanliness, Comfort, Service and Cuisine.
