Andernos Les Bains is a lovely town located off the Northeastern shore of Arcachon Bay. It actually is a group of four small oyster communities including – Taussat, Cassy, Lanton and Audenge. This is one of the areas in France that relied heavily on oyster farming and fishing expeditions for economic growth. Although it did flourish, the interaction between mankind and the marine life resulted in the demise of a few precious species of oyster, but the discovery of a few more previously unknown species. Visitors can take a look at the Oyster Museum to learn more about the importance of this occupation for the local economy.
