One of Victoria’s older towns, Bacchus Marsh is located by the Werribee and Lerderderg rivers, at an elevation of 105 meters (344.5 feet). It is situated beside a scenic, fertile valley, some 55 km (34.2 miles) northwest of Melbourne, en route to Ballarat, and surrounded by hills. The old city of Bacchus Marsh has many buildings of historical significance, namely the Manor and the Bacchus Marsh Museum. It also holds numerous attractions - Lerderderg State Park, containing the imposing Lerderderg Gorge is an excellent venue for picnics. The Werribee River forms another spectacular gorge in Werribee Gorge State Park. Falcons Lookout is famous for its rock climbing and walks from Meikles Point.

The Long Forest Flora Reserve displays the unique mallee scrub that once covered the Bacchus Marsh region. Melton town has a rich history of horses and the Bacchus Marsh Show, held in late October and Cup Day, preceding a five-day festival in early November, is another attraction. Bacchus Marsh has renowned wineries, such as Staughton Vale Vineyard Winery. St Anne’s Vineyard has a bluestone vault, built from the remains of the old Ballarat Gaol. Bacchus Hill Winery overlooks the charming Bacchus Marsh Valley. Planning a trip to Bacchus Marsh? Consider staying at one of the following Airbnb vacation rentals in Bacchus Marsh, Australia.
