Circleville is a city in and the county seat of Pickaway County, Ohio, United States, along the Scioto River. This is a small town that gained fame and its name from a circle drawn in the Hopewell style located in its square, dating back to the early centuries of the Common Era. The Hopewell tradition stems from a Native American culture. You won’t be able to see the circle anymore as the design has been changed, but you’ll be able to see many other Hopewell style monuments in Ohio Valley. Aptly nicknamed “Round Town”, there are plenty of things to see around here. If you are visiting in October, check out the parades for the Pumpkin Festival. Not coming in October? Fret not. Take a stroll in Stages Pond State Nature Preserve. The lake and its surrounding woodlands are home to or resting grounds for a multitude of birds and forest creatures. Or check out the outdoor stages of Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre during the summer, with plays such as Tecumseh that allow visitors to learn about the history of Ohio. Perhaps unwind in the Ohio Glass Museum that chronicles the importance of glass to the local area’s economy? Best of all, this residential town is only 30 minutes away from big city Columbus - perfect for visiting Columbus. Keen to circle round Circletown?
