Here is something from Egypt that will blow your mind. Presenting canopic jars - these ancient Egyptian jars were used for the mummification process to preserve the internal organs of a person. Canopic jars were made of pottery or carved from limestone. You will find four canopic jars in a set: Imsety (human head) contained the liver, Qebehsenuf (falcon’s head) contained the intestines, Hapi (baboon head) contained the lungs, and Duamatef (jackal’s head) contained the stomach.
