What’s new in California’s state parks?
Yosemite State Park
According to the park’s official website, reservations will be required for those visiting on the weekends from February 10-25, 2024. This is due to congestion and public safety concerns due to the tourist rush at Horsetail Fall during this time. All visitors, even those not visiting Horsetail Fall, are required to secure a reservation.
Tioga Road is closed in the winter season due to heavy snow, and it is not possible to enter Yosemite from the east. The road is expected to open around late May or early June.
China Camp State Park
A free birding hike will take place at China Camp State Park on December 16, 2023. The beginner-friendly, 2-mile (3.22-kilometer) hike will start at Turtle Back Trailhead Parking Lot. Interested participants can register here.
The state park has an emergency locator system in the event that you need assistance.
