This charming little place in Orange County, Virginia, is named after its first postmaster, Nathaniel Gordon and in 2013, celebrated its 200th anniversary as a town called Gordonsville. The quaint southern town played an important role during the Civil War just by being on the Virginia Central Railroad. Situated 18 miles (28 km) of Northeast Charlottesville, 41 miles (65 km) of West Fredericksburg, and 54 miles (86 km) of Northwest Richmond, it’s right between the birthplace of the Constitution in Montpelier and the Declaration of Independence in Monticello. Recorded in the National Register of Historic Places are the town landmarks such as the Exchange Hotel and Gordonsville Historic District. The huge structure is built on Cair Paravel Farmstead 10 minutes away from Shenandoah National Park near walking trails, historical sites, caves, Charlottesville, and central Virginia rivers. It features a carpeted living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area set for six guests, and a full bathroom complete with a tub, an enclosed hot shower, a toilet, a sink, and free bath essentials. This yurt is built inside the Shenandoah Crossing resort, a country resort built on a hill surrounded by lush pasture lands. The huge yurt is designed with an open layout for the fully equipped kitchen, rustic dining area, and living room sharing half of the floor space. The other half is divided between two spacious bedrooms and a full bathroom. To sleep six guests, there’s a king-sized bed in the master bedroom that sleeps two adults, a queen-sized bed in the second bedroom to sleep two more guests, and a sofa bed in the living room that ideally sleeps two children. Guests are provided conveniences like free Wi-Fi, a TV, heating, air-conditioning, use of laundry facilities, free parking, and pool access. The resort has an activity center where guests have access to several outdoor pools, spas, and a water playground. There’s a general store, Freedom Hall, and Traders Market Deli at the Friendship Square. There are several other outdoor and indoor amenities that guests can explore and avail to keep them entertained all day, which includes a gym and bike trails.
