Here's a picture I clicked on my recent travel to Sandhan Valley near Mumbai. We had a stargazing session, and for the first time in my life, I clicked the picture of the Milky Way. Since the moon was out, I couldn't see the Milky Way, though I could faintly see some dust particles. My camera captured it perfectly. There are multiple trekking groups that organize this activity, and usually, Apr-Jun would be the best time for stargazing.

For someone with motion sickness, carry anti-vomit tablets. Drink plenty of water and have a goal of drinking 2-3 liters of water in order to avoid altitude sickness. Take a Diamox tablet for AMS - altitude sickness a day before the trip to Chandrataal if you think you are going to fall sick.

Months from May - June and Sep-Oct are best suited for traveling to Spiti. Water may not be available during the winter months in Spiti.

The temperature would drop at night to around -1 and the day temperature would be bearable so you could get away with 2 layers of clothing (this is for September month).

Spiti things to know

- Roads of Spiti from Shimla to Kaza are better and well built as compared to roads from Manali to Kaza.

- Snowfall starts in November and chances may be that the roads may get closed due to heavy snow blocking the roads

- Reliance Jio has connections in most parts of the Spiti circuit. You’d not get range after Kaza until Manali.

Ganesh Chaturthi is widely celebrated in India but most prominently in Mumbai. You can see Ganesha idols worshiped everywhere you go, and the size of the idols vary from 1ft tall to 45ft tall. Idols are worshiped at every household for the duration of 1.5 day, 3 days, 5 days and 10 days after which the idols are carried to nearby water bodies [lakes, ponds, etc.] for immersion, which is termed as Visarjan and that day is called as Ganpati Visarjan. If at all you visit Mumbai for Ganesh Chaturthi, you must visit during the Ganpati Visarjan day i.e., 11th Day, as you get to see all the huge idols of the city congregating at one place for idol immersion, which is ideally near Juhu beach in Mumbai.

You can also visit the Atal bridge which was build across the Sabarmati river. It's a gorgeous bridge from where you can catch a beautiful sunset. You'd have to pay an entry fees of 30Rs

You can enjoy a calming bike ride from Mumbai to Lonavala through the Old Highway and enjoy the twisting turns and crowd free highways. You'd be travelling through Karjat and Khandala ghat.

The entry fees is Rs 40/head. You can checkout the various chambers of the palace and then also shop for souvenirs within the palace premises 

You can visit the Ridge early morning to get some amazing sunrise views of the hilltop city. You get the Ridge all to yourself if you go early and can get a cinematic Bollywood vibe of the place.

P.S. Don't forget to carry a stick or something stick-like with you when you go on an early morning stroll near the Ridge - it is packed with mischievous monkeys who would steal from you. You can see all the locals carrying one when they are going about.
