Natural spots for outdoor enthusiasts
Udaipur is truly a City of Lakes and is home to many green spaces which are great spots to enjoy a romantic evening with your significant other or a picnic with your family, so check them out!
1. Lake Pichola

The glistening Lake Pichola is an idyllic attraction, where couples can book a romantic boat trip to see the historical buildings, hotels, and complexes of the coast. This popular lake is about four kilometers long (2.5 miles) and three kilometers wide (1.9 miles), offering majestic views of the pale blue mountain ranges. The man-made freshwater lake was built in 1362 AD by the then royal family in order to prevent a flood in the nearby village of Picholi.
Make sure to conclude your day by watching the sunset over Lake Pichola. Admire the idyllic scenery and reflections of the amazing architecture by boat or sitting across the lake. I would recommend viewing from across the lake as you get a real sense of peace whilst enjoying the illuminated sky.
A sunset cruise will cost you 300 INR, approx. 4.50 USD. Departing from the City Palace jetty, (leaving every 20 minutes), you will be taken along the banks of Old Udaipur and back again. With truly stunning views, the sunset oozes romance and beauty. An ideal way for a couple to spend their evening.
2. Fateh Sagar Lake

Just a kilometer (0.6 miles) to the north of Lake Pichola lies the sublime Fateh Sagar Lake, which is another artificial lake built in the 1680s. The lake is named after Maharana Fateh Singh and was initially built to source irrigation water to nearby villages. Today it is considered the second main source of drinking water in Udaipur. The lake has a scenic view, from where one can appreciate the awe-inspiring, majestic Aravalli mountains. You can either opt for a unique camel ride or boat trip.
Make a visit to Nehru Park, which is a garden island right in the middle of the lake.
Traveler's tips
Visit the Chowpatty and various food stalls near Fateh Sagar Lake in the evening, which begins after the Circuit House. If you're visiting here in the winter season, be sure to try the Malai Doodh (flavored milk with thick cream and served hot) in a kulhad (earthen cup). A little further, there are also some fun games and rides for the kids. If you're here with your date, you can visit one of the eateries or cafés and enjoy chats along with the beautiful lake view.
