A centerpiece of the country’s natural marvels, Yellowstone is now the fifth most-visited national park in the United States, drawing to its reserves a whopping 4.1 million visitors annually. And it does not disappoint – not only is it home to hundreds of animal species, but you’ll also find breathtaking mountains and canyons, pristine rivers, must-see hot springs, luxuriant forests and an impressive collection of geysers, including its most famous, Old Faithful, and the world’s largest geyser, Steamboat Geyser. It’s thus no wonder that so many, especially Americans, deem it one of the places they must visit within their lifetimes. Finally, checking Yellowstone off your bucket list? Travel Advisory
- Weather conditions: Yellowstone typically sees sub-zero temperatures throughout the winter season, and the chances of snow are most likely to happen at this time. Snowfall is also commonplace during spring, though the accumulation is not as thick as in the previous season.
- Road closures: A majority of roads near Yellowstone National Park are exclusively open to guided over-snow tours during the snowy seasons. Only the North Entrance at Gardiner in Montana remains open to regular traffic year-round.
- Traffic: Yellowstone River Bridge is currently undergoing structural replacement work, as well as parking space and picnic area expansions nearby. The authorities are looking at a date in the fall of 2026 for the maintenance to be completed. That said, expect short traffic delays as you pass by Tower Junction via the Northeastern Entrance Road.
- Visitor services: Most of the park's visitor services are closed between October and April, offering only limited reach. The remaining operations that stay open at this time include hotel lodging, gift shops, and visitor centers across Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful, as well as warming huts in other areas.
We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. And what better way to experience both Grand Teton and Yellowstone by living within them?
For your most comprehensive adventure here, bunk in this wooden cabin, handmade by the property owner’s husband back in the 1970s. However, with its amenities, atmosphere and location, this accommodation is worth every buck of your money – imagine meeting the gaze of wildlife right at your doorstep!

Tips from the host, Island Park Reservations:
- Make sure to bring light jackets to change into whenever you're staying here in the summertime, as some of the temperatures are generally quite cooler. The winter season calls for sub-zero climates, so bring as many heavy and multi-layered clothes as possible.
- The path to the property can be hard to reach, especially during the seasons when snow is highly possible. For a scot-free journey, plan ahead, check online first for updates on the major thoroughfares, and bring some emergency gear if needed.
- Four-wheel drives and cars with snow tires are ideal modes of transport during wintertime. Regular vehicles, meanwhile, can easily pass through in warmer seasons.
