Miami Tour Guide

I was born in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg, in the Soviet Union, and left for the USA when I was 23 years old, just out of college. Leningrad was and still is a city with great cultural traditions. I fell in love with its world-famous museums, art galleries, theaters, and other attractions. I have been guiding tours for most of my life and began while still in high school. During the summer, Leningrad was visited by numerous youth groups from the UK and USA and English-speaking students were recruited to show them around. That is how I got my first taste of being a tour guide. I continued guiding through college and often worked with young adults. After leaving the USSR, I settled in New York City, went to graduate school, and started my own travel company in 1985. We primarily worked with international visitors showing them famous places of interest all over the country, from coast to coast. Though I had other tour guides working at my company, I continued to guide because it was rewarding and enjoyable. I traveled extensively throughout the country and that's how I first became acquainted with South Florida. I instantly fell in love with this beautiful place and eventually moved to the Miami Beach area. I love South Florida and want my tourists to feel the same way. I am exhilarated by its nature and history and I promise to get you excited as well. See you in Miami!

7. Ride the Flyboard and soar high above the water (from USD 99.0)

A flyboard utilizes a hydroflighting device to produce propulsion for hydroflying. The Flyboard was invented by Franky Zapata (France) in 2012. Now, it’s a water sport anyone old enough can try. The physics is pretty simple, and they say there’s not much technique involved. In Miami, you still need to undergo a briefing whether it’s your first time to go flyboarding or not. Your hosts (Dylan, Eddy, and Jensen) could teach you how to flyboard in a longer session if you feel you need more time to prepare. But, if you’re good to go, show up in a swimsuit and attend to the safety instructions. This Airbnb experience lets you glide like a pro on jets of water for 20 minutes.

9. Go parasailing and enjoy bird's-eye view of Miami (from USD 89.0)

In Florida, you won’t be allowed to fly from a boat (that’s what parasailing is), if there’s a coming storm or prevailing high winds. If the coast is clear, you can head to the meeting place and start an enjoyable hour with Dylan and Kyle, your Airbnb hosts. Parasailing in perfect weather is a glorious way to see Miami Beach. The boat ride out to Key Biscayne takes about 5-10 minutes. The safety instructions may take longer but you have to pay attention. Parasailing is considered high risk but you can fly from a boat with assurance if you are using well maintained equipment and are in the hands of professional operators. Hanging from a parachute high above the water surface can be so much fun.
