Located on the Pacific Ocean, the resort city of Puerto Vallarta is the premier vacation destination for a lot of people looking to escape to the sun, the sand, and the ocean. Although the area has been continuously inhabited since the pre-Mayan era it was only until the 1960s that the area has become a place for vacation and leisure. The area is popular among LGBT visitors as well as a popular port for people on cruises so, without the tourist industry, Puerto Vallarta would not be the same. The area is perfect for a family vacation. So if you’re looking to have a little fun in the sun, here is a guide to Aquaventuras Park, Puerto Vallarta.
Things to do
Enjoy the rides
Aquaventuras Park has tons of amazing rides that are not only just for the kids but for adults as well. Release your inner child and hit up the waterslides, lazy river, and more while you’re here. There are 11 different kinds of waterslides as well as a lazy river for those who want to hang out and relax without too much high-speed adrenaline. The Flush is one of the more popular rides where you slide down a slide into a winding cyclone. Jump down and race your friends! The Dolphin is a totally enclosed tube slide so you’ll never know what twists and turns will come up next. These are just a couple of fun rides you can find here.
Swim with dolphins
For over 20 years, Aquaventuras Park has been in the business of sustainable tourism and dolphin conservation. The Dolphin Discovery attraction here has contributed to the study of marine life and dolphins along with sea lions and others. Take a swim with the dolphins or watch a presentation of them doing tricks and jumping around.
Zip line and rock climb
If water rides is not your thing and you’d rather something a little more physical, then why not check out their extreme attractions section. Whether you’re not into the water scene or you’re just looking sweat it out beforehand, there are various rock climbing walls on site as well as a zipline course and obstacle course known as The Challenge.
What to eat
The park has food establishments on site and is also even sometimes included with special admission purchases. If you bought the Royal Swim or Swim Adventure ticket, a “swimmers’ menu” lunch is included –savor a hamburger, soda, and fries on the side. For everyone else, there are also concession stands on site that offer hamburgers, pizza, soda, chicken wings, and salads. Best of all, you can relish these food offerings for as low as 7 USD.
Things to buy
Photographs and souvenirs
Aquaventuras Park has a pretty comprehensive souvenir and gift shop on site as well as the opportunity to purchase photos and gifts. Although guests are not permitted to bring cameras into the area, guests can buy pictures taken of them on site if they want to bring home a cool souvenir of their time in Aquaventuras Park. Their gift shop also has a lot of fun (and practical) things to buy such as sunscreen in case you forgot yours as well as hats and goggles. Pick up a souvenir T-shirt on your way out or a plush dolphin for the kids.
