2. Houston Museum – Decorative Arts

The Houston Museum of Decorative Arts features antique glass, ceramics, music boxes and antique furniture. The collection on display is some of the best in the world. The museum occupies a beautiful Victorian house and it offers guided tours of all the exhibits on display, including narrations of Anna Safley Houston, the lady responsible for accumulating the collections before bestowing them to the people of Chattanooga upon her demise in 1951. It will shock you to learn that Mrs. Houston was married at least nine times, and she died in abject poverty because she refused to sell any of the priceless antiques that would have easily given her enough money for food and medication.
