What happens when a sous chef leaves the biggest hotel resort on an island and opens a restaurant? M-Eating is what happens and it is delicious. This expensive restaurant serves traditional Greek food in a sublime setting of dim lights and elegant seating. It is a pretty penny, so save it for a special occasion and blow your significant other away.

2. Bakalo

If you think M-Eating may be a bit out of your price range, then I recommend Bakalo. It is a moderately priced restaurant that serves the same traditional Greek cuisine that you crave. So if you are in Mykonos on a budget, stroll on down to the courtyard garden of the traditional Mykonian house that is Bakalo and enjoy the traditional Greek recipes you have been itching to try. Make sure you call ahead to book a reservation and the geranium liquor is recommended for all you liquor connoisseurs.

3. Popolo

But maybe, just maybe, your palate is demanding something new and fresh, instead of Greek. I give you Popolo; an Italian cafe where you can snack on meals customized by yourself, such as sandwiches, salads, and desserts. If America had healthy, tasty fast food then this is what it would look like.

If you are looking for a meal of class and elegance, look no further. Moderately priced, Blue Myth serves traditional Greek food with a heavy emphasis on seafood and a booming breakfast scene. In addition, the restaurant overlooks the scenic Platis Gialos Beach. The portions are generous and the lamb is recommended. Come hungry!

5. Buddha Bar Beach

It’s said that Buddha fasted for many years after he renounced his royalty and became an ascetic. If he had known about this eponymous restaurant then maybe he would have slipped a cheat day in there. The Mykonos Buddha Bar Beach is an expensive Japanese restaurant that specializes in seafood and offers enchanting views of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s pricey but well worth it for those who want to work on their chopstick skills.

6. Captain's

Posted by Captain's on Saturday, 29 October 2016

When one goes to Captain’s, one gets the impression that in the wee hours of the morning someone went out with a fishing pole, nets, and traps, and came back before any customers arrived in the morning. This authentic, waterfront seafood restaurant is the place to go if your top priority is good, good seafood. It is much more reasonably priced than many of the surrounding restaurants and serves quality food. Although the service is renowned, it can be a bit of a tourist trap, so if you are looking for a quiet, tourist-free spot, look elsewhere. The octopus is to die for!

Maybe the buzz and fish market vibe of Captain’s isn’t your cup of tea. Try Kalita. It is a gorgeous, quiet garden restaurant that serves Greek cuisine. It is expensive, but just look at those spotlights, tables, and palm trees. The staff is attentive, while being non-intrusive. The cuisine is traditional Greek, but with a modern take. If you are looking to cuddle up with a loved one for a special occasion then this just may be the move for you. Ask for a cocktail, they craft excellent ones! Oh, and I almost forgot! This restaurant has plenty of vegetarian and even vegan options, so if someone in your party has either of these dietary restrictions, they can be accommodated at Kalita.

Now you know eight restaurants that serve delicious foods for your exploratory tongue and rumbling belly. Whether you want traditional Greek, Italian, Japanese, seafood, or even pizza, now you have options. And whether you are operating on a shoestring budget, a handful of dollars from broke, or this is a vacation where price tags are irrelevant tags, you have plenty to choose from. So hop on your ATV and drive to Blue Myth for a delectable breakfast, and hang on the beach for the morning. Then when the belly starts becoming a concerned citizen, hop back on your ATV and head to Little Venice for scrumptious traditional Greek cuisine at Bakalo. Later, maybe after snorkeling or a nap, head on to Ornos Bay and enjoy the Japanese food wonders of Buddha Bar Beach as you watch the setting sun turn the ocean flickering gold. That’s just day one. Think of all the possibilities!
