There are usually two types of people who go to Mykonos. One type is well aware of its party island reputation and often that’s why they’re going. The other type goes to Mykonos, drawn by its enchanting beauty, and discovers the vibrant party life there and are dismayed. They don’t have to be. Don’t get me wrong, Mykonos does offer a popping party scene, but when the sun sets, there is a vibrant mature nightlife for others. So, whether you want to party with your hands in the air or a wine glass in hand, read more to learn the best things to do in Mykonos when the sun goes down.
1. Wander around the restaurants and bars of Little Venice and dip your toes in the water
Little Venice is a district in Mykonos famous for its quaint beauty with its Cycladic whitewashed squat buildings, many of which are bars and restaurants. This is a great place to bar hop and meet other travelers or to settle in at a waterfront restaurant for the night with your party enjoying a steady flow Greek appetizers, beer, and wine. It’s on the water’s edge too, so with a beer bottle in hand, moon high in the sky, you can wiggle your toes in sand of the small Little Venice beach and feel the water caress your feet.

3. While in Little Venice, stop at the Scarpa Bar
Scarpa Bar is a great spot to have a drink by the sea. Even though the drinks are a bit pricey, the ambiance is lovely and there is a great selection of cocktails. The mojitos and cherry cocktails are highly recommended. If you want to dance or just sit and watch the setting sun, then stroll on over to Scarpa Bar.

After you’ve watched the sun set at Scarpa, gather your crew and sojourn at Alley Cocktail Bar, right outside of Little Venice. The bar has a cool alternative aesthetic and their cocktails are killer. And while they offer free popcorn and snacks to get you thirsty to buy more drinks, it’s a bar, you came there to drink anyway!

If you hear about Caprice while in Mykonos, there is a good chance you’ll hear about its sunset view. This bar serves delicious albeit pricey drinks on the waterfront. I never even knew you could rent yachts, but it turns out you can and at Mykonos no less. The Mykonos Yacht Club has a fleet of three yachts that provide tours of specific islands and beaches or they will just cruise around. Whatever you desire. Gathering your friends and partying the night away on a yacht sounds like a great night to me!

9. Perhaps you want to see what is on the other side of the street, cross over to Lola-Bar Cafe
Lola-Bar Cafe is a wonderful friendly gay bar in Little Venice. The interior lighting is dim, with mauve walls, abundant flowers and mirrors abound. It’d be hard not feel light and happy here. So even if you are straight, meet some new folks and check this place out while you’re in Mykonos!

10. Drink it up in a castle, at 180 Degrees Sunset Bar
Have you ever thought it would be cool to drink in a castle? You probably haven’t, but you can know what you are missing out on and claim your rightful turret. The Penigrakis Castle is not some lavish European castle dating many centuries. This castle was built just half a century ago and instead of imposing walls, it has flowing smooth walls and tables that afford panoramic views. Oh and you can grab some drinks at 180 Degrees Sunset Bar while you’re up there and get drunk in a castle.
