6. Stowe Park

A nice quaint park in the middle of the city adorned with a walking path, water fountain, picnic tables, play area for kids and well maintained landscaped gardens. The Stowe Park has lots of shade and is located beside the rail tracks so it is a good spot to hang out with parents and kids on a picnic. There’s also a historic monument of the veterans of WW II that was relocated here in 2014.

7. Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

Opened in 1999 by a retired textile executive, Daniel J. Stowe, this world class arboretum is spread across 150 hectares (380 acres) on the shoreline of the Lake Wylie. There are plenty of waterfalls, gardens, sculptures, unique flora and fauna. Every time of the day, every season of the year and every day’s weather makes the same place look completely different.

So if you are a nature enthusiast then you do not stand to get bored here. Just remember to bring your camera for capturing some beautiful natural sights. This botanical garden continues to expand and add newer things when funds come in.

It might seem like an unconventional place to be called a mall because Catawba River Antique Mall is a 6,000 square meter (60,000 square foot) beautiful historic 109-year-old mill with high ceilings, hard pine columns and maple hardwood floors. Be prepared to spend several hours shopping and gazing at an endless variety of antiques (obviously) and collectibles in over 300 vendor booths in this mall. You can literally get anything and everything from furniture, clothing, jewelry, decor, custom designs, chic and more at a reasonable price.

Built in 1873, this is a national historic district with colonial, Tudor architectural style and is located in Belmont. This is a single street town with everything from hotels and restaurants to a cafe, spa, bars and a park. The best shops in Belmont, NC, are located here too. 13. Goat Island Park

Sprawling 12 hectares (29 acres), the Goat Island Park is located in the middle of the South Fork River of the Catawba River. In merely five years, it has become one of the most popular parks in Belmont. Sadly there are no goats here, so don’t go by the name! It has walking trails, playgrounds, swings, an 18-hole disc golf course, fishing pier, canoe/kayak facilities, picnic tables, table tennis boards and plenty of green open space. With so much to do, all you need is the perfect company and you can easily spend a couple of hours here with your kids.
