Greer is located in the upstate region of South Carolina, with a population of approximately 28,000 people. The city was hunting ground for the local Cherokee tribe and was settled by pioneer families in the 1700s. One such family was James Manning Greer’s, the city’s namesake, with Scottish ancestry.

Today, the city has a small town feel with the opportunities of a big city. Greer is the only North American manufacturing site for BMW, providing jobs for many of the city’s workers. Greer’s Century Park is a great place to spend a few hours on a nice day, especially if you have children. The park has Kids Planet, an area with two play structures, picnic benches, pavilions, and a walking trail. There’s also a disc golf course which hosts an annual tournament. The park is home to the city’s baseball and softball diamonds, as well as concession stands.

3. Fishers Orchard

Fishers Orchard has been around since 1930, providing Greer with fresh peaches. Their farm has a Pick-Your-Own option, where you can pick as many peaches as you’d like. They do warn that it is a working farm, so you should prepare to wear proper footwear, stay hydrated, and shield yourself from the sun.

They also have two farm stores in Greer, which sell fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as jams and ciders. If you’re in Greer in October, check out their fall festival.
