Being the oldest settlement in Northeast Texas, Birdville Settlement was the former community being incorporated into today’s Haltom City in Texas. The Birdville Historical Society was founded to preserve and educate residents about the Birdville settlement’s history. The museum has preserved photos and artifacts since 1996 and is run by volunteers. Make this the first stop on your list of things to do around Haltom City before you go to other places, and you will understand how the city has become what it is today. From Walmart Neighborhood Market on Boulevard 26, the museum is less than 10 minutes away by car.

This Toy Museum probably holds the world’s largest collection of Driving School Models. Since the 1980s, its owner Ron Sturgeon has been collecting toys of all kinds, along with antique toys. Today, the museum has over 3,000 pieces on display; toys and art of various types including dog toys, cars, collectibles, and more. If you are an automotive enthusiast, you will find this place fascinating, and even if you are not one, include this in your itinerary, you will not regret it. From McDonald’s along Airport Freeway, this unique museum is a 5-minute drive (2.8 mi/4.5 km).

The Parks at Arlington is the third-largest mall in Tarrant County behind its upscale competitor North East Mall. Six Flags Over Texas is 9.7 mi (15.6 km) and a 15-minute drive from the mall. Opened in 1988, it is one of the leading shopping destinations in the Metroplex. Major anchor stores include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillard’s, J. C. Penney, Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack, and Sears. Altogether there are 170 specialty stores in this lifestyle mall. Shop all you can but before you drop stop by the food court and movie theatre for a time out and then carry on shopping. Kids’ parties are planned in the play area where a carousel and NHL-size ice skating ring are installed for additional fun.

It is also the first mall in Texas to feature a Sea Life Centre, and the first mall in Texas to have an aquarium inside it too. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is a 6-minute drive, being 3.8 mi (6.11 km) away.
