1. Alleppey Beach

Alleppey Beach is known as one of the best beaches in the Kerala. This is the perfect place to spend time by yourself, to relax on a quiet and fine evening. People generally come here to watch the frolicking dolphins so if you are lucky, you can have the chance to watch dolphins here. Alleppey Beach has its intrinsic natural beauty. It is a treat to have the view of the water of the Arabian Sea from the sandy shore. Keep in mind that the water is not safe for swimming, especially during the monsoon season. An ancient houseboat and a beautiful garden make this place famous as a picnic point.

2. Ambalapuzha Temple

Ambalapuzha is a Sree Krishna Temple in Alleppey. It is a famous and religious temple for worshippers of the Hindu Lord Krishna. This temple is located 14 km (8.7 mi) south of Alleppey. The temple was built from 15 – 17 AD by the ruler of Pooradam Thirunal Devanarayanan Thampuran. Actually, during the raids of the Tipu Sultan in 1789, the idol of Shree Krishna was brought here from elsewhere to keep it safe. The Ambalapuzha Temple is often referred to as the Dwaraka of the South. The temple is also famous for its sweet pambalapuzha, a type of sweet porridge made up of sugar, milk, and rice, which is very special at this temple.

3. St. Andrew's Church in Arthunkal
The most impressive shrine is dedicated to the St. Andrew’s Church in Arthunkal. This important Christian pilgrimage center is situated in Alappuzha. Every year in January, the church holds a massive festival with a procession, which attracts tourists to visit the church. This annual feast is ten days long. St. Andrew’s Church is about 21 km (13 mi) away from Ambalapuzha Temple.

4. See the Alappuzha Lighthouse

Let’s go visit down the historic lanes of Alleppey. The lighthouse is one beautiful site that is situated on the Alleppey Beach. This landmark shows the maritime history of India. The feeling here is its pretty and quaint because of the lighthouse, which gives creates beautiful views for capturing an excellent photo. One more interesting thing to see near the lighthouse is the 137 year old pier that still extends into the sea.

Don’t think of completing your Alleppey tour without visiting Alleppey’s famous market, Alappuzha Zakariya Market. 6. Karumadi Kuttan Statue

Visit the Karumadi Kuttan Statue, which is situated near Alleppey in Karumadi Village. This place shows the remains of Kerala’s glorious past as a Buddhist center. The statue dates back to the 10th century AD. It is a huge and black granite statue of Lord Buddha.

Pozhiyoram Beach is small but a beautiful place to spend time with your loved one or alone, too! You can reach this place by a simple rickshaw ride from the main town. If you are lucky and make it to the beach in time for sunset, you are in for a treat. When the orangish red sun melts down in the cold water ocean, you’ll certainly capture some impressive photos. It is also amazing to swim during this rare scene.
