Batangas is one of the most popular places to visit near Manila, and we are going to find out why. It is composed of great beaches, sceneries, lakes and the most famous thing being its volcano called Taal Volcano. The city is like one that was left back in history because there are old looking buildings and houses all around and it has a very rich history. It has the second largest international seaport and over the years has grown into a thriving industrial area. Below I have broken down for you the best places to visit and things to do while there, so let’s go!

Taal Lake is a beautiful freshwater lake located in the Philippines on an island called Luzon. The lake fills a crater which was created by massive eruptions many, many years ago. I’m talking more than 100,000 years ago. Taal Lake is the third largest lake in the Philippines and every year receives many tourists from many different parts of the world. It is 330 feet (100 meters) deep, 25 km (15.5 mi) long and 18 km (11 mi) wide. From the lake, you will get the chance to witness the beautiful view of the mountains and get this, you can either choose to hike to the lake or take a horse there. How fun!

Villa Escudero is a gorgeous resort, so do not miss a chance to visit. It was initiated in the 1880s as a coconut plantation, but gradually over time, it was transformed into a resort. Here you get to witness Philippines’ rich culture, heritage, and history. While here you can enjoy many different activities such as nature watching, fishing, swimming and let’s not forget the native dances. The place has such a serene look to it and the accommodation ranges in size. If you ever need accommodation while in Batangas, then you’re welcome here.

3. Taal Volcano

Now when I hear volcano, I immediately get excited. This volcano is 311 m (1,020 feet) high. Throughout history, this volcano has been recorded to have had 33 eruptions. It is the second most active volcano in the country, and so the island around it has been named Volcano Island. With these eruptions, there has been tragic deaths of around 5,000 – 6,000 in total. But aside from that, you could always go boat riding around the volcano on Taal Lake, or go horse riding and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the place. All this sounds like an excellent, fun Saturday afternoon with the family, doesn’t it?

4. Milea Bee Farm

Posted by Milea Bee Farm on Thursday, 26 January 2017

The bee farm is a great little place in Batangas where cosmetic products are produced from natural bee wax. They firmly believe in organic products, and that is why they founded this farm seven years ago. It is opened every day of the week including weekends, and it would be a nice educational visit for everyone. For example, did you know that there are 7 species of bees? No? Then you need to visit the Milea Bee Farm.

Now onto outdoor activities; if you like being one with nature like me, then a hike to Mt. Maculot should be on your must-do list. It is one of the places where you would see Taal Lake from the best angles. This place has been labeled as enchanted, and you will just have to climb it to find out why. While climbing, there are 14 rest stops. Believe me; you will need them. So before you go, make sure you are geared with the right equipment. So, what do you say?

As we all know, the Philippines is full of some of the most fantastic beaches any destination could have. It is honestly one place you would want to go for at least a whole weekend, if not more. The resort has a more aesthetic look, and when you are here, you can engage in activities like swimming, picnics, walks along the beach, boating and so much more. Just imagine a beautiful day, good weather, playing beach volleyball with your friends and family after a nice long day of snorkeling. All this could be quickly turned into reality once you visit the camp.

So, here’s a little background information about this place. The shrine is a history-filled area that was built in commemoration of one of the founding fathers of the Philippines, Apolinario Mabini. Kept here are some of his personal belongings and artifacts. It is a breathtaking place with green grass all around and beautiful gardens. The museum is a must-visit for just a nice relaxing afternoon for everyone because not only is it great to view but it is also educational. There are two floors of exhibits and no entrance fee. Here you can get great souvenirs to show people back home and just relax.
