1. Bar Ossou

Bar Ossou in Brunswick.

Posted by Colorful BLAC on Sunday, 16 February 2014

Enjoy an evening at this cozy, laid back and casual bar with a strong community feel, as you enjoy its daily live music. The various bands include local, upcoming and independent international artists and the feel of the place is relaxed, with a jazzy, reggae, open mic sort of vibe. Think artsy and independent.

Decorated with art as you enter the main room, the casual feel extends to the warm lights, illuminating red and yellow walls with comfy couches for seating. As you move further in to the venue, the next room becomes cozier with a luxurious space leading to the courtyard which is a space of its own, when the sun is shining.

Bar Ossou serves up drinks like beer, cocktails and wine and the food is scrumptiously African, as their menu constitutes of a mix of French and Senegalese foods. A signature drink at the bar is ‘bissap’, made of hibiscus tea imbued with lime juice, homemade liqueur and edible rose petals. Thanks to its welcoming nature, Bar Ossou has a unique feel to it as it welcomes everyone who visits.

Just as its name suggests, this bar has a ton of different tequilas and cocktails based on this popular libation. They also have a special tequila and mescal tasting class you can sign up for, in advance. Long gone are the days of last-round shots of tequila and hangover hell as this bar will teach you how to taste and savor the flavors of tequila rather than just looking at it as a shot for the already inebriated individual.

7. Xscape Melbourne

Posted by Xcape Melbourne on Thursday, 15 October 2015

Another game that gives you that fully immersed experience can be found at Xscape Melbourne. At Xscape Melbourne, families, groups of friends or colleagues are tested to see how well you all can work together in an escape room. The gist of the game is to find clues hidden in the room, which will help you solve puzzles, leading to locks that will need to be opened and mysteries that will need to be debunked for the group to escape the room.

It does not require special skills but it is all about how cohesively the group can work together - 60 minutes to escape a room, will it be enough? Get yourself a booking and try it out for yourself!
