The original bridge was burnt down in a fire in 2018, but efforts are now being made to rebuild an exact replica of the bridge. It is a cute and quaint little wooden bridge with a river flowing underneath. If you get to visit Chico when this bridge is rebuilt, then you must visit the replica of the original bridge that was built in the 1800’s!

The Butte Creek Ecological Preserve (BCEP), as the name suggests, is a 93 acre (37 hectares) area in the middle of Butte Creek. This is home to various species of flora and fauna – with animals like the western pond turtle and the yellow-legged frog, and plants like Smooth Scouring-Rush, Common Fiddleneck, and Western Bittercress. BCEP is open to the public for nature hikes, observation, and to just take in nature. But, you have to be mindful to protect and preserve this area without causing any damage.
