Belmont Lake State Park is a historical 463-acres (187.36-hectare) park with an interesting story behind it. The park was originally a farm that was owned by the landowner at the time who went by the name of August Belmont. The land was also used for Belmont’s equestrian activities as well. After all of these years, the equestrian activities are one of the park’s best features. Today, the park is widely visited by families that enjoy horseback riding, great outdoors, picnics, hiking, and sports activities. There are trails at the park that are for hikers and bikers. As a newer feature, pedal boats and kayaks are offered, on a rental basis, throughout the summer. For those of you who are adventurous and might already have your own kayak or canoe, that is perfectly fine and is permitted out on the lake but there are a few rules and regulations when doing so. there is also an area for fishing and catching bass. Just imagine your family at this park, grandparents fishing, the younger generation on pedal boats, the parents taking the children to the playground, and when everyone is winding down for the day nothing is better than a family picnic. Sounds like a nice outing right?

Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve is known for its nature trails even though it is only 2.9 miles (4.66km) long. Its trail loops around itself and has beautiful scenery along the way. The wildflowers are blooming year round and offer a mountain-biking trail which is also pet-friendly although some people just show up for walking purposes only. What makes this trail special is that judging from some Google reviews the trail is bigger than it seems. These judgments are probably because this preserve is located in a forest. The whole entire preserve is 813 acres (329.009 hectares) surrounded by beautiful pine trees and is a natural habitat for various wildlife such as red-tailed hawks, eastern cottontails, red foxes, and some species of snakes. What’s not to love about wildlife at its finest?
