It’s hard to sum up a village like Gstaad in words, but since it’s not a very popular place to stop on typical European tours, this article will make an effort.

Gstaad is a city in Switzerland you really shouldn’t miss out on knowing. It has become a popular destination for jet setters since it’s a beautiful ski resort, but there’s a lot more to Gstaad than that. Find out what you’ve been missing and take it into consideration on your next journey!

If you have heard about Gstaad, you probably know that is a ski resort that attracts high society. But there is a lot more to this village than that. The ski resort covers more than 200 km (124 miles), one of the largest resorts in the Alps. Year after year, it’s becoming a more common destination for ski enthusiasts from all over the world because of its snow fields, open from the end of October to May.

A perfect setting for winter activities - the most popular are skiing and snowboarding, of course. Gstaad offers 2000 metres (6562 feet) of vertical descent, 80 pistes, 170 km (106 miles) of cross-country ski trails, zones that are perfect for expert skiers and a lot more that are suitable for beginners and intermediate levels.

Getting to know this region in the winter can be a unique experience, so keep it in mind for your next ski trip. Many companies offer different tours and experiences to help enjoy the mountains to the fullest. And if you are not so into skiing or snowboarding, you can also choose among activities like tobogganing - fun for all ages - or, if you are brave, you can try air-boarding and go downhill as fast as you can imagine.
