2. Get ready for a trip to Rani Durgavati Museum

The museum is located right in the heart of the city of Jabalpur. It was founded in the year 1976 and is situated right opposite the Hotel Krishna. While touring the city, you just cannot leave this place off your travel list. Rani Durgavati Museum is known for its rich collection of historic sculptures, inscriptions, and prehistoric relics.

It is open all days of the week except for Mondays. It is also closed on government holidays. A spacious area surrounds the museum’s main building, which is a double-storied structure.

You can see ancient coins, sculptures from the 10th and 11th century and inscriptions made of copper and stone. The museum also houses an exhibition of photographs on Chausath Yogini Temple in Bhedaghat.

4. Revisit history at the Madan Mahal Fort

This fort is conveniently situated in the district of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. You can easily reach the fort from the city. Like many other forts in India, it is located on a hill. Previously, the fort was used as a watch tower to keep an eye on the enemies and the invaders of the Gondwana Kingdom and is about 515m (1690 ft) above the ground. It was also Madan Singh’s pleasure palace. He was the 10th king in the Gond dynasty and Rani Durgavati’s son.

5. Visit the famous Kanha National Park

This national park is also known as the Kanha Tiger Reserve and is spread across an area of about 1945 square km (751 square miles). The park is known as one of the finest habitats of Indian tigers. Kanha is known for its undulating landscape, which is dotted with thick groves of vegetation. The meadows of Kanha are the lifelines for different wildlife species such as the gaur, barasingha, sambar and the chital who in turn support other predators such as the tigers, fox, leopards, jungle cats and wild dogs. This national park is a real treat for tourists due to its deciduous forest that features a variety of trees and the more than a thousand species of plants. The park is also home to approximately 300 different species of birds.

How do you get to Kanha?

Kanha is conveniently located in the heart of Madhya Pradesh. The place enjoys good connectivity by air, rail, and road with important Indian cities and other major tourist destinations. The city of Jabalpur is about 176 km (109 miles) from Kanha and takes around 4 hours to get there.

The city of Jabalpur is located to the east of River Narmada and around 22.5 km (14 miles away), there is an impressive gorge and stunning cliffs made of marble. The gorge narrows down and then drops over the Dhuandar Falls that are widely known as the “Smoke Cascade”. Visitors can enjoy some really interesting rock formations known as the Elephant’s Foot and the Monkey’s Leap, while the length of this gorge is around 5 km (3 miles), the cliffs stand at an impressive height of about 30 m (98 ft).

The Marble Rocks are part of this spectacular gorge that formed on the River Narmada where the river becomes as narrow as 10 m (33 ft) wide and then flows through an area of beautiful white marble. They are an extremely popular destination in India for tourists. The marble in the locality is mined and carved into different types of figures. They are then sent to different parts of India for sale. Bhedaghat village is quite close to the city of Jabalpur and is world famous for the Marble Rocks.
