From this Saturday you can cool off and enjoy the Water Play Park for longer. Instead of opening from 10am to 5pm, the park will now operate an extra four hours per day, closing at 9pm.

Extending parallel to Hugh King Drive, on the southern banks of Murray River, Mildura Water Play Park is the ideal spot to take your kids if you need to find some respite from the merciless Australian sun. The park is completely free and features many water fountains, an artificial shallow stream, a playground area, showers, toilets, and picnic tables. Since the facility is unsupervised, don’t lose sight of your little ones.

2. RAAF Memorial and Museum

Celebrating the heroic deeds of the Australian pilots during World War II, RAAF Memorial and Museum is housed in the original headquarters of the Number 2 Operational Training Unit or 2OTU. The aerial warfare training platform prepared over 1000 pilots - men and women - who then went on to serve during the Second World War. The museum not only serves as a memorial of those who lost their lives during training or battle but also hosts a vast collection of pictures and objects that help retain the collective memory of Australian history for future generations.

5. Black Stump

6. Old Psyche Bend Pump Station

This site has a lot of history tied to it, as it is the station William Chaffey, who founded Mildura, put up a system that was going to supply Mildura with drainage and irrigation. At this site, you can have a look at the old centrifugal pumps and also check out his triple-expansion steam engine pump, which has now been replaced with a more modern electric pump.

7. Rio Vista Mildura Arts Center

Formerly occupied by the Chaffey family, it was bought and converted into an arts gallery which saved it from getting demolished. Quite recently, Rio Vista Arts Center has put its efforts into learning more about the history of the Chaffey family and restoring the grandeur that was Rio Vista Historic House. It is about time, as it is a historical place visited by students, tourists and locals.

8. Old Mildura Homestead

10. Sandbar

Famously known for its live music scene in Mildura and its very big beer garden, Sandbar has to be a stop for anyone visiting the town. The building that houses Sandbar was built in the 1920s and was once a bank. Renovations were done in 2008 to have the emergence of what one sees now.

Chateau Mildura came to be in 1888 thanks to the Chaffey family planting wine grapes in 150 acres (60 hectares) of their land in Belar Avenue, Irymple. They watered the vineyard via irrigation. Come and learn a lot about the winemaking business and some amazing historical measures taken in producing the Chateau Mildura wines. While learning, taste the wines in their collection. They offer a variety of activities and tours on their grounds.

12. Paddleboat Tours

One cannot mention Mildura and not talk about paddle-boating. Mildura has a lot of historical paddle boats that offer dinners, river cruises and transportation to the many sites in the area. Below are some of the boats that have quite some history and that can give you a tour of a lifetime: P.V. Rothbury: this paddleboat was built in 1881 and do not let its age fool you, it is known to be one of the fastest boats. Book either lunch or dinner cruises for an amazing time on the river. If you want, you can also have winery cruises. P.S. Melbourne: as one of the few steam vessels, it was built in 1912 and restored in 1965 and carries people up and down Murray River, giving them a commentary on the different sites on the river. P.S. Ruby: recently had her 100th birthday by having a restoration done. P.V. Mundoo: this boat hosts functions and events and can carry about 180 people. It was modeled on the original Mundoo, which was built in 1875.
