The Ansin Family Art Gallery is a legacy handed down by one of Miramar’s most established families, the Ansin family, who developed the Miramar Park of Commerce. Dedicated in 2009, the gallery, which is 1,800 square feet (167.2 square meters), may be relatively new, but it is quite known for its fantastic exhibitions of artworks from Florida and all around the world. It also hosts a great number of intimate local events and workshops. Entrance to the actual gallery is free, and so is the on-site parking, as it is one of the gallery’s goals to provide free and easy access to great works of art.

Miramar Cultural Center, also known as ArtsPark, is Miramar’s premier arts and culture destination. It’s a place where the city’s creativity and diversity are celebrated through a number of cultural and educational programs that the whole family can enjoy. It is centrally located, right at the heart of Miramar Town Center and adjacent to the Miramar City Hall, so it is quite easy to access. Within the center, guests can enjoy visits to the fantastic Ansin Family Art Gallery, the center’s stunning 800-seater theater, and a beautifully maintained botanical garden. The center hosts a number of live events, including theater and musical performances, dance recitals, workshops, and more, so be sure to check their website for dates. While you’re there, you must definitely check out the public art water installation created by world-renowned artist Alison Sky called “Vanishing View.”

5. Spot herons and moorhens in the Snake Warrior's Island Natural Area

Snake Warrior’s Island Natural Area is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Its highlight is the restored wetland area, around which you can walk via a paved trail. This recreated wetland was made in honor of the real Snake Warrior, Chitto Tustenuggee, who was a leader of the Seminole Tribe, the oldest documented settlers in the area. Going around this paved trail, you can spot wood ducks, herons, and moorhens. Make sure to read through the amazingly detailed markers dotting the trail so that you can educate yourself on the history of the Seminole settlement. Benches are also available throughout so you can pause, rest, and enjoy the view. Aside from this walking trail, there is also a lake where anglers can fish, just like the Seminole Tribe once did.
