A historic home in the city of San Fernando, Lazatin House is a popular landmark that boasts stunning colonial architecture. It was built in the mid-1920s on Consunji Street and was once occupied by General Masaharu Homma. Today, this architectural wonder is still owned by the Lazatin family and is still often visited by tourists who are interested in its rich history. Several famous people have also checked out the heritage home, including Martha Stewart.

You'll be surprised that these heritage homes are just a few meters away from SM City San Fernando Downtown. I love passing along Consunji Street, because I get to catch a glimpse of the colonial era of my home city through this row of ancestral houses that withstood the test of time. Do visit them if you want to heighten your appreciation of the rich history of San Fernando.

This location in the city is among the busiest during the day, as it leads to the downtown area, but one of the eeriest at sundown. The row of local houses somehow contributes to the spooky vibe at night time but the area is generally safe and well-lit. So if you're a first-time traveler in this area, be sure to catch a glimpse of this row of heritage homes before dark.

If your family (or kids) are a huge fan of rides, Sky Ranch Pampanga is a destination you definitely need to check out. Located in SM City Pampanga, Sky Ranch Pampanga is one of the best places to go in Pampanga. It is filled with rides that are kid-friendly, like the Double Decker carousel, Kangaroo Jump and Express Train. If you’re looking for something a little bit more thrilling, you can scream as loud as you can on the Space Shuttle, hold on tight to your seat while on the Loop Roller Coaster, or go as high as you can on the Bungee Jump. Families can also ride the Pampanga Eye, the biggest and tallest Ferris Wheel in the entire Philippines. You can also play games and win prizes, and when you’re craving for some munchies, you can head over to the food stalls inside the park.

Sky Ranch Pampanga at Night

The best time to visit this theme park is at night from 5:30 pm until closing time. The weather is perfect for strolling around and it is also well lit during that time so it looks more festive and vibrant. Also, if you are riding Pampanga Eye at night, you would have a nice view of the city and its glistening lights.

During your trip here, be sure to enjoy a ride at the Pampanga Eye. As attested by my co-local expert Kaycie, the urban views from this towering Ferris wheel capture the unique beauty of San Fernando. I adored the view of Mount Arayat on one side and the busy highways and buildings on the other during the 15-minute ride.

5. Go back in time at San Fernando Train Station

San Fernando Train Station looks like it came from a completely different era: and it did. It no longer functions today, but it was fully functioning back in the years prior to the early 1900s up until the second world war. Jose Rizal, the Philippines’ national hero, even stepped foot into this train station when he visited San Fernando and Bacolor! Now, it has a museum with photos, memorabilia and statues commemorating the time when San Fernando Train Station was alive and bustling. It also has a Bataan death march marker, to give honor to the lives lost during the Japanese occupation. Because of its historical significance, San Fernando Train Station was declared a historical landmark by the National Historical Institute – and a must-see attraction by many visitors.

The best time to visit this is during the National Heritage Month when the city government of San Fernando stages a heritage open house and free Kalesa tour. During this time, they feature more historic items so you are able to learn more about the town’s history and culture. If you are not able to catch this event, then you may visit it on regular days. After you explore this museum, you may ride a pedicab to go to downtown to try some Capampangan delicacies.

Some of the most magical church weddings I've witnessed were held at this charming parish, which is also referred to as Chancery. The simple but timeless exterior of the church offers a complete contrast to the intricate details of the interior walls, ceilings, and altar. The church offers modern conveniences such as LCD monitors and air-conditioning to all of its devotees and guests for a more conducive time for reflection and prayer.

A charming parish within the vicinity of Barangay San Jose, this church serves as the symbol of the local's strong faith. It hears a mountain of prayers from devotees and residents when not booked for weddings. The place is very close to the town proper, but it requires a little detour from the main highway for those who are on a sightseeing trip. The neighborhood is perfect for adventurous couples or backpackers, or any travelers for that matter, who are open to a slight deviation from their city adventure.

At SandBox, bonding with friends and family is made extra memorable. Some of my college friends and I decided to reunite here months after our graduation and the adventure park didn't disappoint. The assortment of rides had us occupied from morning till afternoon. When you visit, make it a point that you wear sunscreen and other UV protection to keep the harmful effects of prolonged sun exposure at bay. I wore a long-sleeved shirt that day as an extra layer of protection haha!

Located in a secure residential community, SandBox is ideal for adventurous groups who are traveling via private cars. Commuting can become a challenge as the area is a bit remote.
