Dumas Beach is an urban beach, located around 21 km (13 miles) away from Surat city and it’s the most popular beach in the area, for a large number of travelers. Because of its calming effect and picturesque scenery, visitors highly recommend this place, who also come to marvel at its black sand. The sand is black because of its high concentration of iron and there are some haunting stories about the area, although many people reject their validity. 2. Hajira

3. Ambika Niketan Temple


This two storied structure was built in 1969. It houses the idol of Ashtabhuja Ambika and is situated on the banks of the river Tapti. It features the goddess Ambika, in the form of “ashtabhuja”, meaning eight hands and she is wearing a beautiful saree and smiling at all her followers. You will find a high number of devotees at this temple during the festival of Navratri, or Nine Nights. Apart from the goddess Ambika, you can also find small shrines of Lord Ram, Sita, Shiva and Lord Laxminarayan.

4. Iskcon Temple


Iskcon Temple is also known as Shri Shri Radha Damodar Mandir and was founded in 1978. Originally, the temple was a small 900 square feet (83.6 square meters) but over a period of time, it was expanded and is now 13,600 square feet (1,263.5 square meters). It’s simple, yet architecturally impressive design can definitely offer peace and mentally recharge any person. 5. Sardar Patel Museum

Sardar Patel Museum was established in the city of Surat, in 1890, and it is easily accessible from Surat Railway Station. As the distance from the railway station is 2.8 km (1.7 miles), traveling by cab is the best option. The collection represents the rich history and amazing ethnic mix of Surat. 6. The Dutch Garden

The Dutch Garden or Dutch Cemetery is one of the best attractions, in Surat. The garden is located near Katargam Gate and it is the cemetery of the officers who landed and settled in Gujarat for business purposes. The garden has been designed in European style and tells the story of power and glory. You can enjoy your morning and evening walk here, or use it as a meeting point. The tomb of Baron Adrian van Reede, the director of the Dutch company, stands out arrestingly, here.

7. Tithal Beach

Tithal Beach is another attractive beach along the Arabian Sea, located in west Valsad, India. This is another black sand beach that offers peace and a wonderful atmosphere that attracts many people. The nearby Shri Sai Baba and Shri Swaminarayan Temples overlook the Arabian Sea and more than enhance the beauty of this beach. 8. Shree Swaminarayan Temple

The Shree Swaminarayan Temple is another religious place which is always surrounded by many visitors. It belongs to the Swaminarayan Sect of Vaishnavism, in which Swaminarayan is believed to be the incarnation of Nara-Narayana. Currently, the temple is maintained and organized by VedRoad, a spiritual organization which falls under the direction of the Vadtal Temple. The temple is constructed in beautiful pink stone with marvelous carvings which are the pride of Surat city.

9. Science Centre


The Science Centre is multi-facility complex situated in Surat city, Gujarat. The complex was established on the 29th of November 2009, and it houses a science centre, museum, auditorium, art gallery, planetarium and an amphitheatre. The Science Centre is located on the ground floor and houses a fun science gallery and exhibits. The museum houses traditional textiles, taxidermied animals, beautiful oil paintings, old manuscripts, sandalwood and much more. An auditorium is located on the mezzanine level of the complex and is mainly used for seminars and lectures. A planetarium is located on the ground floor and has a digital theatre and a facility to observe stars, the moon, and other planets. You will find many cultural shows and concerts going on in the amphitheatre. It also has an underground parking facility for its visitors.

10. Ubharata Beach


This is another enjoyable beach located 42 km (26 miles) from Surat. Ubharata Beach is mostly known for its palm-fringed sands and its big waves. You will find many food stalls on the shore, where you can enjoy sweet corn, coconut water, and other beverages. It is good to leave this place just after sunset, as the way back is somewhat dark and isolated. The best month to visit this beautiful beach is between February-March and from October-December.
