1. Wantagh Museum of the Wantagh Preservation Society

There are total three sections in the Wantagh Museum. The very first is The Station, the second is ‘Jamaica’ Railroad Car and the third is the Original Wantagh Post Office. The Station was built in 1885 and is restored to its 1904 appearance. In the 70s the ‘Jamaica’ Railroad Car was a magnificent parlor car complete with solarium, cooking facilities and an ice-cooled air conditioning system. The Theodore Roosevelt Nature Centre is a barrier island beach in Jones Beach State Park. There is a large exhibit area with a variety of marine habitats on the South Shore Estuary Reserve.
