Talao Pali (talao means “lake” in Hindi) is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Maharashtra and can be reached in 15 to 20 minutes, from any location in Thane. Kelwa Beach is also known as Kelwa or Kelwe Beach and is located in Maharashtra, India. This beach is famous and a popular weekend getaway, for tourists from Mumbai. 11. Gorakhgad Fort

Gorakhgad Fort is another amazing trekking destination, easily accessible from Thane. Not only tourists but many local trekkers are attracted to Gorakhgad Fort because it offers the thrilling experience of climbing vertical rock walls. One side of Machhindragad and Gorakhgad Fort is covered with dense forest. The fort is believed to be named after Saint Gorakhnath, who performed penance here.

The history behind the fort is not very clear, but the water cistern and rock-cut caves here indicate that it may have been used as a stopover destination for many travelers to Junnar via Naneghat. This historic fort is located at a height of 2,150 feet (655.3 meters) above sea level. Water is available at the top of the fort but it must be filtered.
