You will find lots of people here, throughout the year but Ganesh Chaturthi is a very big festival, which is celebrated with joy and happiness and thousands of people.

11. Gorakhgad Fort
Gorakhgad Fort is another amazing trekking destination, easily accessible from Thane. Not only tourists but many local trekkers are attracted to Gorakhgad Fort because it offers the thrilling experience of climbing vertical rock walls. One side of Machhindragad and Gorakhgad Fort is covered with dense forest. The fort is believed to be named after Saint Gorakhnath, who performed penance here.
The history behind the fort is not very clear, but the water cistern and rock-cut caves here indicate that it may have been used as a stopover destination for many travelers to Junnar via Naneghat. This historic fort is located at a height of 2,150 feet (655.3 meters) above sea level. Water is available at the top of the fort but it must be filtered.

12. Tansa Lake
Tansa Lake, located outside Thane city, is a very good place for photographers and people who want to spend time alone. The Tansa Dam is also located nearby, which is visited by many tourists.
