Talao Pali (talao means “lake” in Hindi) is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Maharashtra and can be reached in 15 to 20 minutes, from any location in Thane. The lake gives shade to tired and frustrated people, who want to relax and escape the chaos of the city and it is famous amongst families.

Kelwa Beach is also known as Kelwa or Kelwe Beach and is located in Maharashtra, India. This beach is famous and a popular weekend getaway, for tourists from Mumbai. It is around 80 kilometers (49.7 miles) north of Mumbai and is one of the largest beaches in Maharashtra, stretching for 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) along the coastline of the Arabian Sea. Titwala Ganesh Mandir (Temple) is an important pilgrimage spot in Thane and is visited by thousands of devotees, every month. The idol of Lord Ganesh here is very attractive and ancient. You will find lots of people here, throughout the year but Ganesh Chaturthi is a very big festival, which is celebrated with joy and happiness and thousands of people.

A small pond is located near the temple where people take bath before entering the temple. You can enjoy food items like snacks and noodles with the spicy and famous chutney. After darshan, you can also pay a visit to the Kalu River, which is close to the temple.

It is located at 2,815 feet (858 meters) and is the highest fort in the Thane region. You will be more comfortable trekking this mountain in monsoon season. The forest surrounding Mahuli has been declared as a sanctuary and it is the perfect paradise for rock climbers, due to the challenging pinnacles of Vazir and Vishnu. This is the perfect retreat for a short weekend.

11. Gorakhgad Fort

Gorakhgad Fort is another amazing trekking destination, easily accessible from Thane. Not only tourists but many local trekkers are attracted to Gorakhgad Fort because it offers the thrilling experience of climbing vertical rock walls. One side of Machhindragad and Gorakhgad Fort is covered with dense forest. The fort is believed to be named after Saint Gorakhnath, who performed penance here.

The history behind the fort is not very clear, but the water cistern and rock-cut caves here indicate that it may have been used as a stopover destination for many travelers to Junnar via Naneghat. This historic fort is located at a height of 2,150 feet (655.3 meters) above sea level. Water is available at the top of the fort but it must be filtered.
