1. Talao Pali
Talao Pali is also known as Masunda Talao and is one of the main attractions of Thane. Talao Pali (talao means “lake” in Hindi) is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Maharashtra and can be reached in 15 to 20 minutes, from any location in Thane. The lake gives shade to tired and frustrated people, who want to relax and escape the chaos of the city and it is famous amongst families.
Talao Pali provides a good dose of fun and relaxation and if you are a foodie, you can try some of the delicious dishes served here, such as chana masala, peanuts and Chinese food. The lake also allows boating, which is very rare in Mumbai, but in Thane, you can do it!

2. Kelwa Beach
Kelwa Beach is also known as Kelwa or Kelwe Beach and is located in Maharashtra, India. This beach is famous and a popular weekend getaway, for tourists from Mumbai. It is around 80 kilometers (49.7 miles) north of Mumbai and is one of the largest beaches in Maharashtra, stretching for 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) along the coastline of the Arabian Sea. You should plan at least 3-4 hours for a visit to this place, as there are many nearby attractions, like the Shitla Devi Temple, Kelwa Fort, and the Kelwa Dam.

3. Naneghat Hills
Naneghat Hills is located around 120 km (74.6 miles) from Mumbai and is a must visit place for trekkers. It is one of the finest places to visit in Thane district and has an altitude of 838.2 meters (2,750 feet) above sea level. It is an ideal location for trekking, photography, and star gazing. The records found at Naneghat have proven to be extremely useful in establishing the history of the region. This will be the perfect destination to spend your time with friends, so don’t forget to carry your camera.

4. Titwala Ganesh Mandir

Titwala Ganesh Mandir (Temple) is an important pilgrimage spot in Thane and is visited by thousands of devotees, every month. The idol of Lord Ganesh here is very attractive and ancient. You will find lots of people here, throughout the year but Ganesh Chaturthi is a very big festival, which is celebrated with joy and happiness and thousands of people.
A small pond is located near the temple where people take bath before entering the temple. You can enjoy food items like snacks and noodles with the spicy and famous chutney. After darshan, you can also pay a visit to the Kalu River, which is close to the temple.

5. Korum Mall
Looking for some shopping options? Don’t worry, Korum Mall is your place. It is a shopping mall, located in Thane, where you can find a number of branded shops. It covers a 25,000 square feet (2,322.6 square meter) area and you will find many options for family entertainment here, including a four-screen Inox Multiplex, with a seating capacity of over 1,000 seats and a food court that fit 550 people, at a time.

6. Mahuli Fort
Thane is lucky to have numerous, beautiful natural spots, but out of all of these, the mountain that holds Mahuli Fort stands out as the most beautiful attraction. Mahuli Fort is a mystical Mughal fort and a visit here makes for an intriguing trekking experience. It is located at 2,815 feet (858 meters) and is the highest fort in the Thane region. You will be more comfortable trekking this mountain in monsoon season. The forest surrounding Mahuli has been declared as a sanctuary and it is the perfect paradise for rock climbers, due to the challenging pinnacles of Vazir and Vishnu. This is the perfect retreat for a short weekend.

7. Gorakhgad Fort
Gorakhgad Fort is another amazing trekking destination, easily accessible from Thane. Not only tourists but many local trekkers are attracted to Gorakhgad Fort because it offers the thrilling experience of climbing vertical rock walls. One side of Machhindragad and Gorakhgad Fort is covered with dense forest. The fort is believed to be named after Saint Gorakhnath, who performed penance here.
The history behind the fort is not very clear, but the water cistern and rock-cut caves here indicate that it may have been used as a stopover destination for many travelers to Junnar via Naneghat. This historic fort is located at a height of 2,150 feet (655.3 meters) above sea level. Water is available at the top of the fort but it must be filtered.

8. Tansa Lake

Tansa Lake, located outside Thane city, is a very good place for photographers and people who want to spend time alone. The Tansa Dam is also located nearby, which is visited by many tourists. Night camping facilities are also available here. The Tansa River originates from this lake and it is one of the biggest lakes around Mumbai. It is off the beaten path, so there are no hotels and restaurants, nearby, but if you are a wanderer, looking to escape the hectic city life and spend quality time with yourself and nature, you will find Tansa Lake, a paradise.
