At this ryokan, you can stay in a traditional Japanese bungalow. The rooms are designed in the traditional sukiya-zukuri fashion meaning they are perfect for holding Japanese tea ceremonies. The floors are tatami matted and there are paper screen doors as well as futons to sleep on. You will feel like you have stepped back in time when you enter as everything is authentic, but you are taken back to the modern day by the convenience of electric lights, a television and air-conditioning. There are of course onsen at this establishment. There is an open-air onsen so close to a waterfall that you can hear it. It really makes you feel like you have returned to nature. They also offer massages and Kaiseki meals made with locally grown ingredients.

A beautiful ryokan right in the heart of Ito. Kanpo No Yado Izukogen allows guests to choose between a western or Japanese aesthetic. Some rooms are entirely one or the other, or you can choose a room that is half western half Japanese. There are carpeted floors with European beds next to a tatami mat living spaces to suit everyone’s needs. The ryokan has an open-air onsen that is used by all guest. The natural hot spring water is pumped into the pool giving it a silver colour. The natural minerals colouring the water are said to be good for the skin. There is also a sauna to relax in as well as the bath.
This 4-star hotel has spa facilities to make guests feel truly comfortable. Ufufu spa has masseuses and saunas waiting for you. There’s also onsen that you can try out. The group onsen is large, but many of the rooms have a private onsen attached. These are all outdoor onsen that you can use any time of day for as little or as much as you like, it is your onsen. The rooms are all laid out in a historically Japanese style, many have a direct view of a river that is so close that you can go and dip your feet in. If you don’t feel like exploring the river you can also bath in the onsen. The ryokan is also very close to a Shinto shrine. But one thing that will impress you is the beautifully prepared traditional Japanese meals at the local restaurant.

The Key Highland Izu is very proud of its pool. You can lounge next to it on deck chairs, taking in the spectacular sea view, or take a few laps before the traditional Japanese breakfast is served. The rooms are more of a western style. Hardwood floors and European beds are prepared for guests along with televisions, fridges, and air-conditioning. The hotel is very close to Akazawa Onsen Day Spa. It is about 5 km (3.10 miles) from the hotel and they have an arrangement where guests are recommended to visit. The staff are happy to give you directions and call ahead for you if there is anything you need to book or have ready for your arrival. The spa has onsen where you can enjoy the volcanically heated waters of Ito.
