Masterton is the largest town in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand, and extremely family friendly. Whether you’re looking for practical planning tips or you’re interested in New Zealand’s history and culture, here are some facts to get you started! With a patchwork history of Māori, European, Pacific Island and Asian cultures, New Zealand has become a melting pot of cultures. You’ll find amazing Māori historic sites and taonga (treasures) here, as well as beautiful colonial-era buildings, dotted throughout the country. A walk around any New Zealand city today shows what a culturally diverse and fascinating country it has become.
Exploring New Zealand’s beautiful landscapes by car, campervan or motorhome is a popular way to get around. Even if you’re used to driving in other places, you need to be well aware of things like weather extremes, narrow, windy roads and different road rules before you begin on your journey. As for New Zealand’s geography and geology - spectacular glaciers, picturesque fiords, rugged mountains, vast plains, rolling hillsides, subtropical forest, volcanic plateaus and miles of coastline with gorgeous sandy beaches - it’s all here. It is no wonder New Zealand is becoming so popular as a location for movies these days! So, grab your phone for some photos! But don’t spend too much time on it, or you will miss out on so many million dollar views. Here are the best Bookabach holiday homes in Masterton, New Zealand.

This property is set opposite to the countryside and is on the outskirts of town, which is lovely. It’s an eco-friendly, one-bedroom, fully self-contained cottage, with separate bedroom and a super-king bed. The cottage is next to a paddock with sheep and only a 4-km (2.5-mile), 2-minute drive away from the town centre and 1 km (0.6 miles) from the hospital.
The owners of the space have provided their own solar panels and own water supply, perfect if you are an environmentally conscious person, like them. There’s a private outdoor area at the back of the cottage for relaxation.

This two-bedroom farm stay is just three minutes from the town centre and a few kilometres away from the state highway. A lovely, quiet spot, this rental is very tranquil and yet close enough to the main township, shopping and walking around Henley lake. The farm is set in a tranquil environment, as it is located down a tree-lined drive, nestled between the Carterton water system and the Waingawa River, with the majestic Tararuas as a backdrop. Pets and even horses can be accommodated here, but they must be declared beforehand. The farmland provides a pleasant walk to the nearby Waingawa River.

This is a two-bedroom, little, cosy pioneer cottage that sits overlooking a private lagoon and the workings of a sheep and beef farm. It’s surrounded by 360-degree views of the mountains, hills and the Wairarapa Plains. The cottage is warmed using a little pot belly stove during the winter. The flush loo and the bath under the stars are both one step off the deck and, if you don’t wish to cook dinner on your night away, it’s a short drive into town, where there is a rich array of restaurants.
