Washington DC is the capital of the USA and lies on the Potomac River. Home to The White House, the Capitol and the Supreme Court, the city also has several iconic monuments. One is the Lincoln Memorial, dedicated to Abraham Lincoln, which is located at the end of the National Mall opposite the Washington Monument dedicated to George Washington. The Smithsonian Institution is also located in Washington, DC and the sprawling complex includes a zoo, nine research centers and 19 museums.
