Off the southern coast of Australia, some 310 mi (498 km) away from Melbourne, the wildly beautiful Tasmania is now on almost every traveller’s bucket list. The heart-shaped island has become a must-visit destination, attracting an increasing number of visitors all year round. It’s a natural paradise with its mountainous western side and home to the famous Cradle Mountain as well as alpine lakes, steep gorges, and wild rivers. The flatter portion that goes from Launceston down to Hobart, cutting the island on its eastern side, features rainforests, swampland, and waterfalls that are just a prelude to the eastern sunny coast with its pristine beaches and amazing surf spots.
If this isn’t enough to entice you, just know that the world-famous Australian wildlife abounds here and the infamous “Tasmanian devils.” Put your exploring boots on and check out our list of the top cabin accommodations in Tasmania, Australia.
Planning to travel to Tasmania soon? Travelers can now expect more flights between Tasmania and other Asian countries like Singapore and Hong Kong, so access to the Australian state is easier.

Perched on a hill, this comfy cabin is attached to the owner’s house but has its private entry and garden for outdoor dining. Designed to accommodate up to two people, the cabin is ideal for a couple’s retreat in the peaceful, hilly landscape of Gawler, a rural community in the North West region of Tasmania. 4. Off-the-grid eco hut with beach access in Binalong Bay (from USD 84)
For all those who wish to live an off-the-grid experience, this eco hut comes highly recommended. The turquoise water and white sand of Binalong Bay is just a short walk away. Despite not being in complete isolation, this eco hut feels like a secluded accommodation in Tasmania because of a dense thicket that surrounds it.
This property definitely gives off a camping vibe with a super simple but functional style, with solar power and water from a rainwater tank. The bathroom and shower are located behind the hut. A wood stove will keep you nice and toasty on colder days. There’s no TV and no WiFi here, which is perfect for those like me who need a social media detox every now and then.
